New Phantom Blade Zero Trailer Released, Demo on the Way

Feb 05, 2024 3:54 PM

The upcoming action-RPG Phantom Blade Zero from developer S-Game has released a new trailer dubbed the 'Year of the Dragon Special Trailer: Rain and Blood', showcasing an animated swordfight and some PlayStation 5 gameplay footage. Fans of the genre can anticipate a playable demo coming later this year. Phantom Blade Zero promises to deliver intense third-person sword combat where players take on the role of an assassin named Soul, who is on the run after being falsely accused of murder by a powerful organization known as The Order. Soul's journey is against the clock due to a medicine that works for only 66 days. S-Game, known for their 2010 game Rainblood: Town of Death in China, describes Phantom Blade Zero as a spiritual rebirth and the game they’ve always wanted to make. The title is currently slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC, with no specific launch date announced.

What is the premise of Phantom Blade Zero?

Phantom Blade Zero is an action-RPG where you play as Soul, an assassin who works for a mysterious organization called The Order. After being framed for murder, Soul must fight against powerful enemies and unravel a conspiracy before a life-sustaining medicine runs out in 66 days.

Phantom Blade Zero's roots can be traced to S-Game's earlier title, Rainblood: Town of Death, which was a success within China and laid the groundwork for the thematic elements to be carried over into this new title. By focusing on a narrative-driven experience and combining it with engaging combat, the developer aims to offer an improved and more personal rendition of their creative vision.

Phantom Blade Zero's mix of intense sword combat and a time-sensitive narrative sounds intriguing. S-Game's dedication to evolving their creative vision from Rainblood: Town of Death shows promise for a deep, immersive experience that action RPG fans will appreciate.
