Mintrocket, the developer behind the hit game Dave the Diver, has announced a new title, Wakerunners, a MOBA set in a dystopian sci-fi future promising fast-paced 4v4 and 5v5 action. Wakerunners differentiates itself with a unique acceleration and deceleration mechanic and offers a variety of distinct characters with unique abilities and battle styles, intensifying strategy elements within matches. The Steam Next Fest demo will be available from February 5 to 12, featuring five game modes and seven playable characters. Mintrocket, which is part of the South Korean giant Nexon, is expanding its portfolio following the success of Dave the Diver, and has recently unveiled another title, the PvPvE zombie stealth-survival game Nakwon: Last Paradise.

When can players try out Wakerunners?

Players can experience Wakerunners during the Steam Next Fest demo period which runs from February 5 to 12.

Wakerunners is entering a competitive MOBA market, which includes giants like League of Legends and DOTA 2. These games have established a strong foothold with their strategic team-based gameplay and large character rosters that allow for dynamic, varied matches with high replayability. Wakerunners' unique gameplay mechanics and dystopian setting attempt to carve out a new niche within this genre. With Mintrocket's previous success with Dave the Diver, a diving exploration and restaurant management game which has sold over three million copies, there's keen interest to see if the studio can replicate its success in the MOBA space.
