Apr 16, 2025 9:04 AM

FromSoftware has unveiled a new playable character, Raider, in their co-op spin-off Elden Ring: Nightreign. Raider is a formidable barbarian warrior, sporting a fur cloak and horned helmet while wielding a massive axe, ideal for delivering powerful heavy attacks. Unlike previously revealed agile characters, Raider fills the strength build role. His ultimate ability summons a rock pillar that all players can climb, showcasing his utility in gameplay. Two other characters have been highlighted; the sniping Ironeye and a yet-to-be-named character with a katana, with the total roster to be eight. Elden Ring: Nightreign is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, on PC and multiple consoles.

What gameplay styles can we expect from the new characters in Elden Ring Nightreign?

The new characters in Elden Ring: Nightreign offer a variety of gameplay styles, including the strength-focused Raider and the ranged Ironeye, allowing players to choose between powerful melee attacks or strategic sniping. This diversity adds depth to cooperative gameplay, inviting players to combine different abilities for tactical advantages.

Elden Ring: Nightreign expands the Elden Ring universe, which originally launched in 2022 to widespread acclaim. The game integrated open-world exploration with deep lore and challenging combat, drawing players into its immersive world. This upcoming spin-off further develops the franchise, emphasizing co-op gameplay and encouraging collaborative strategies among players.

Raider’s heavy-hitting playstyle feels like a love letter to strength mains, and that rock pillar ultimate could be a game-changer for team positioning. Meanwhile, Ironeye’s sniping adds a fresh layer of strategy, making me wonder how the katana wielder will shake things up.
