Netflix's One Piece, the live-action adaptation of the famed manga series, has expanded the canon universe with fresh content.

Eiichiro Oda, the author of the series, contributed new artwork depicting a 20-year-old character named Mr.7, previously only referenced by name in the manga.

Co-showrunner Matt Owens posted the first ever full-scale artwork of Mr. 7 on Instagram. This fresh perspective on the character was originated from an idea Owens had pitched at his first meeting for the One Piece adaptation—an action-packed introduction of Zoro in Shells Town.

Oda, finding Owens' knowledge of the One Piece universe impressive, was thrilled by the idea and decided to fully render Mr. 7 for the first time. This new design formed the basis of the live-action version of the character who features in the first episode's opening scenes.

The One Piece series premiered on August 31 and swiftly secured a second season. Tomorrow Studios' CEO Marty Adelstein assured that the new season could be prepared within 18 months after the actors' strike concludes.

Looking ahead, fans are curious about how the character Tony Tony Chopper - a reindeer-human hybrid - would be depicted in the live action format. Co-creator, writer, and co-showrunner Steven Maeda acknowledged the challenge but remained silent on the speculations revolving around another upcoming character.

The One Piece story continues as viewers eagerly await the return of their favorite characters and the introduction of new ones.
