Multiplatform Microsoft Flight Simulator en Nieuwe Doom Overwogen

Feb 16, 2024 3:45 PM

Microsoft is reportedly weighing the possibilities of bringing multiplatform versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator and a new Doom game to competing consoles. According to details shared by Microsoft in a recent video podcast, the company is looking to expand its games to PlayStation and Nintendo systems, starting with four undisclosed titles which, as reported by The Verge, are believed to include Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.

While no official decisions have been made, The Verge's sources also suggest that Microsoft has contemplated or is contemplating the multiplatform release of the Gears of War series. The current strategy does not confirm multiplatform versions of the highly anticipated Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but Xbox head Phil Spencer has indicated that a cross-platform future is not entirely out of the question.

Could Microsoft Flight Simulator and the new Doom game be heading to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles?

While Microsoft has considered it, they have not yet confirmed the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator or the new Doom game on PlayStation or Nintendo consoles. However, this strategy aligns with the company's broader move towards making their games more accessible across different platforms.

In terms of background information, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a renowned simulation franchise known for its realism and detailed landscapes, immersing players in the cockpit of various aircraft. Doom, on the other hand, is a storied first-person shooter series that helped define the genre with its fast-paced action and iconic demonic enemies. The mention of potential multiplatform releases indicates a significant shift in Microsoft's strategy, aiming to make their exclusive content available to a wider audience beyond the Xbox ecosystem.
