MARVEL ZOMBIES ANIMATED SERIES CONFIRMED TV-MA

Mar 20, 2024 6:59 PM

Marvel Studios is pushing the envelope with its new animated series, Marvel Zombies, confirmed to have an TV-MA rating indicating it's designed for mature audiences due to intense storylines and graphic violence. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, announced this defining characteristic in an interview, highlighting their commitment to authentically adapting the comic series' unflinching narrative. Marvel Zombies will be a continuation of a storyline introduced in the What If...? series where Avengers face a zombie apocalypse, and it will expand on heroes like Yelena, Kate Bishop, and Shang-Chi in their zombified forms.

The project, which had a notable presence at the San Diego Comic-Con, is set to diverge into more adult themes, following the comics' gruesome nature while also aligning with Marvel's recent ventures into TV-MA content like Echo. Marvel Zombies will consist of a concise four-episode miniseries, demonstrating a short yet significant addition to the MCU, and is expected to stream on Disney+ in 2024.

What is the Marvel Zombies release date on Disney+?

As of the latest updates, Marvel Zombies is slated to release on Disney+ sometime in 2024, though a specific date has not yet been announced.

Marvel Zombies is inspired by the limited comic series released in 2005 written by Robert Kirkman, best known for creating The Walking Dead, with art by Sean Phillips. The comics gained popularity for their dark and often humorous approach to showing Marvel heroes and villains as zombies, set in an alternative universe where a zombie infection ravages the superhero community. The announcement of the animated series adaptation has sparked excitement among fans who enjoyed the comic's unique blend of horror and superhero action.
