Marvel Rivals Dev Feels Social Media Pressure Ahead of Season 3

Apr 03, 2025 6:40 PM

NetEase Games is set to revamp its live-service game Marvel Rivals with significant changes to its content release roadmap. The game aims to keep momentum alive among players by reducing the length of its seasons from three months to two. This update, discussed in the recent Dev Vision Vol. 5 video, includes the introduction of new hero Emma Frost launching April 11, followed by Ultron mid-season. With this pace, fans can expect at least one new hero each month. The creative director emphasized the need to keep the game engaging and exciting to fulfill the players’ dreams about Marvel superheroes. The upcoming Season 2 will transition from a vampire theme to one centered around the Hellfire Gala, incorporating new outfits, maps, and modes.

What are the changes coming to Marvel Rivals Seasons?

The upcoming changes for Marvel Rivals include a shift to shorter two-month seasons, the addition of new heroes like Emma Frost and Ultron, and a thematic change in Season 2 centered around the Hellfire Gala, featuring new characters and outfits.

Marvel Rivals launched in December 2023, achieving 10 million players within three days and becoming a massive hit across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game features team-based PvP action with popular Marvel characters, and despite a decline in concurrent players since its launch, it remains one of Steam's most-played titles. The changes being implemented in the upcoming seasons are responses to player feedback and aims to rejuvenate interest.
