Markiplier Discloses Reason for Rejecting Part in Five Nights at Freddy's Film

Oct 17, 2023 12:28 PM

Popular YouTuber Markiplier, also known as Mark Edward Fischbach, recently unveiled the reason behind his decision to reject a role in the upcoming "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie. Known as "the King of FNAF" for his highly-viewed YouTube videos on the horror game series, he had previously hinted at his potential participation in the movie, leading to enthusiastic speculation from his fans.

In a new video on his YouTube channel, which boasts of an impressive 35.6 million subscribers, Markiplier disclosed that a scheduling clash with his own movie, "Iron Lung," resulted in him having to turn down the role. "It was supposed to happen,” he admitted, "There was a period it would have occurred, and unfortunately, the timings for the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie and 'Iron Lung' overlapped. It was nothing more than an unfortunate timing conflict."

Markiplier also stressed that despite his unavailability, he had tried to make the schedules work. However, the demands of his own project overpowered his urge to be a part of the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie.

Scheduled for release later this month, the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' film is a venture directed by Emma Tammi and co-written with the game's developer, Scott Cawthon. The plot revolves around the central character Mike Schmidt, a security guard who encounters animated killer mascots in his workplace after midnight.

On the other hand, 'Iron Lung' is a forthcoming sci-fi horror film written, directed, produced by, and starring Markiplier. It specializes as an adaptation of the 2022 submarine horror video game Iron Lung developed by David Szymanski.

Regrettably, Markiplier kept quiet about the role he would have played in the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie since it hadn't been released yet. He, however, maintained that his inability to participate didn't hint at any discord between him and the crew, adding that he still greatly supports the project.

Jason Blum, in an earlier chat with IGN, mentioned being mocked for pursuing 'Five Nights at Freddy's'. Nevertheless, he expressed his eagerness to create more horror films based on games. If the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie garners success, it may pave the way for a sequel, possibly presenting Markiplier with a second opportunity.
