John Cena, popular wrestling superstar and actor, has publicly apologized to fellow WWE veteran and Hollywood star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Cena admitted to criticizing Johnson in the past for leaving the WWE to pursue a career in Hollywood, a move Cena himself later made.
The apology took place during a recent media event for WWE's 2023 Fastlane event.
Looking back, Cena confessed he had handled the situation poorly and unfairly judged Johnson's intentions, which he ultimately had no real insight into. Taking full responsibility for the longtime rivalry, Cena confirmed his respect and admiration for Johnson, even admitting that he had always been a fan and wanted "The Rock" back in the WWE ring.
Both have had successful careers outside of WWE, occupying significant roles in Hollywood. Johnson is one of the highest-grossing actors today, with his movies raking in over $10.5 billion worldwide. Some of his famous roles include parts in Netflix's Red Notice and Disney's Jungle Cruise, both of which are lined up for sequels. He also starred as Black Adam in the eponymous DC film.
Cena has also made a name for himself in Hollywood, starring as Peacemaker in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad and the follow-up HBO Max series. He has been part of the Fast Saga franchise and flexed his comic chops voicing Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
