JENNIFER LOPEZ's Netflix flick resembles Titanfall in a surprising way

Mar 13, 2024 4:21 PM

Jennifer Lopez is taking on the role of a data analyst in the futuristic Netflix film 'Atlas', where she teams up with a rogue mech to save humanity. The film boasts mechs resembling those from the video game franchise Titanfall, as well as a stellar supporting cast which includes Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown. Directed by Brad Peyton and written by Aron Eli Coleite and Leo Sardarian, 'Atlas' aims for a release date on May 24. Lopez's previous streaming-exclusive was the critically panned 'This Is Me… Now' on Prime Video.

Is the Netflix film 'Atlas' connected to the Titanfall franchise?

No, 'Atlas' is not an official Titanfall movie, but fans may notice similarities in its mech designs to those from the Titanfall games.

The upcoming Netflix film 'Atlas' is generating buzz among fans of the Titanfall video game series, even though it is not an adaptation or an extension of the game's universe. Titanfall, developed by Respawn Entertainment, is a beloved series known for its unique blend of fast-paced first-person shooter gameplay and mech combat. Its most recent installment, Titanfall 2, was praised for its engaging single-player campaign and dynamic multiplayer modes but has not been succeeded by a third installment, despite fans' clamor for more. Respawn has, however, found continued success with Apex Legends, a battle-royale game set within the Titanfall universe.

The Netflix film 'Atlas' may not be officially connected to the Titanfall franchise, but it's definitely drawing inspiration from its iconic mech designs, which could excite fans of the game series. While we're not getting a direct adaptation, it's always cool to see nods to beloved gaming universes in other media.
