Insomniac Pitched Resistance 4, But Sony Said No
Feb 09, 2025 10:32 AMInsomniac Games' founder Ted Price revealed that the studio had pitched a fourth entry in the Resistance series, but Sony decided against it due to timing and market conditions. Despite enthusiasm from Insomniac's team to explore the story and universe further, the project did not materialize. Resistance has not seen a new installment since its last spin-off in 2012, leaving many fans wondering about the series' future as Insomniac focuses on its upcoming Wolverine game.
nWill there be a Resistance 4?Unfortunately, there will not be a Resistance 4 as Sony rejected Insomniac's pitch. The studio is currently dedicated to developing a Wolverine game instead.
nThe Resistance series debuted in 2006 with "Resistance: Fall of Man" on PS3, blending alternate history with sci-fi shooting gameplay. Despite critical acclaim, especially for its multiplayer aspects, the series has largely been dormant following the release of "Resistance: Burning Skies" in 2012. Fans have held out hope for a revival, but Insomniac's recent focus on its Marvel properties, including Spider-Man and Wolverine, suggests that another entry may not be on the horizon anytime soon.

It’s tough seeing a series like Resistance fade into the background, especially with its unique blend of alternate history and sci-fi action. Still, Insomniac’s knack for storytelling and gameplay gives me hope that whatever they’re cooking up next—Wolverine included—will be worth the wait.

It's always a bummer when a beloved series gets shelved, but at least Insomniac is channeling that creative energy into something equally exciting like Wolverine. Here's hoping Resistance gets its moment in the sun again someday—maybe after a few more web-slinging adventures
