IGN Forecasted Legend of Zelda Film 15 Years Back
Nov 08, 2023 9:58 PMIGN once created an April Fool's joke in 2008, imagining a live-action "The Legend of Zelda" movie. Over a decade later, Nintendo officially announced they are working on such a film. Actors who participated in the spoof included J.R. Killgrew as Link, Camille C. Brown as Zelda, and Gregory Lee Kenyon as Ganondorf.
The real Zelda movie will be produced by series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, with Wes Ball, director of "The Maze Runner," set to direct. This follows the success of the "Tears of the Kingdom" game, which sold over 18 million units. Given the recent success of "The Super Mario Bros. movie" at the box office, there's much anticipation for the Zelda adaptation.
No casting details or plot specifics have been revealed, but Nintendo is collaborating with Sony Pictures for the production. The announcement emphasizes the continuing cross-media ambitions of Nintendo's franchises.
