Hyper Light Breaker Launching Early Access Soon

Mar 15, 2024 4:00 PM

Hyper Light Breaker, the prequel to the critically acclaimed Hyper Light Drifter, is set to enter Early Access on PC this summer. The game, a 3D rogue-lite developed by Heart Machine, promises a significant departure from its predecessor's top-down perspective by introducing an open world filled with procedurally generated environments paired with hand-crafted elements. Players will engage in an expansive narrative as Breakers—mercenaries on a quest to defeat the Abyss King—utilizing a mix of melee and ranged weaponry, customizable loadouts, and parkour abilities like a hoverboard and glider.

Players can look forward to a dynamic gaming experience where engaging combat, boss fights against Crowns and their Elite minions, and a mysterious, vivid world combine with an atmospheric soundtrack. Hyper Light Breaker's early access is currently projected to last about a year, with console release details still pending.

When can players expect Hyper Light Breaker to be fully released?

The full release date of Hyper Light Breaker isn't specified yet, but the early access on PC is expected to last around one year, which could hint at a potential release in the summer of 2025.

Hyper Light Drifter, the preceding game to Hyper Light Breaker, achieved critical success for its engaging gameplay and distinctive pixel art style. With an atmospheric open world, Hyper Light Breaker builds upon Heart Machine's foundation by switching to a 3D format and adding co-op play. Fans of the original game and newcomers alike will find the expansion of the universe and the transition from 2D to 3D an exciting twist on the formula that made Hyper Light Drifter a beloved indie gem.
