GOOGLE TRAINT AI VOOR CO-OP GAMES

Mar 14, 2024 9:15 AM

Google is advancing the realm of co-op gaming with the development of a new artificial intelligence (AI) model called SIMA (Scalable Instructable Multiworld Agent), designed to team up with human players. Trained in games like Valheim, Goat Simulator 3, and No Man's Sky, SIMA can already carry out over six hundred basic actions, including collecting items, navigating menus, and building structures. The goal for SIMA is to be able to join any game and naturally learn to play alongside gamers with voice instructions. Although still in its early days of development, Google's AI demonstrates a performance comparable to human players even when exposed to a game for the first time. The introduction of SIMA may transform the future of social gaming by providing a virtual companion capable of collaborative play.

Can Google's artificial intelligence play games as well as human players?

Google's AI, known as SIMA, has been reported to perform on par with human players when introduced to new games, despite being in the early stages of training.

The prospect of playing co-op games with AI is not entirely new, but Google's attempt to create an AI that can perform a wide variety of actions across different games and is capable of learning new games as they play is a significant step forward in the field. This could potentially expand to future gaming experiences where AI could serve as companions, opponents, or maybe even as tutors to help players get better at the games they love. The gaming industry continues to explore AI applications, and companies like Google are at the forefront of this technological venture, pushing boundaries of what's possible within the virtual worlds.
