Ghost of Yotei Surges to 3.3 Million Sales in Opening Month

Ghost of Yotei has seen strong sales since its launch, with Sony reporting that the PlayStation 5-exclusive title sold 3.3 million copies within its first month. This impressive figure follows the success of its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, which sold 2.4 million copies in its first three days. Despite the push for Holiday sales and the subsequent multiplayer add-on due for release in 2026, Ghost of Yotei faces a tougher market backdrop than its predecessor due to a smaller PS5 install base and a higher launch price. Comparisons also consider timing, as Ghost of Yotei launched in the fall while Ghost of Tsushima debuted in summer 2020 during a gaming boom.

Ghost of Yotei sold 3.3 million copies in its first month, which is comparable to Ghost of Tsushima's initial three-day sales of 2.4 million. However, Ghost of Tsushima ultimately reached 5 million in 118 days and has sold 13 million copies overall. Therefore, while Yotei’s launch appears strong, it still has room to grow to match Tsushima's cumulative sales.

Ghost of Tsushima, released in July 2020, is known for its immersive open-world design, engaging combat system, and rich storytelling inspired by Japanese history. It quickly gained acclaim, earning multiple awards and actively contributing to the popularity of action-adventure games on the PlayStation platform.
