Jan 31, 2025 5:00 PM

EA and Maxis have re-released the iconic first two entries of The Sims as part of the franchise's 25th anniversary celebration, making them available for digital download on PC through platforms like the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. This nostalgic package includes "The Sims: Legacy Collection" and "The Sims 2: Legacy Collection," with prices set at $19.99 and $29.99 respectively. Fans can also opt for a bundle that combines both games for $39.99. Although some popular expansion packs are included, not all original content has made the cut, such as The Sims 2’s IKEA Home Stuff pack. These re-releases also come with additional content from The Sims 4, bringing fresh perks to long-time fans.

What is included in The Sims re-releases?

The re-releases of The Sims include various expansions from both the original games, but notable exceptions like The Sims 2’s IKEA Home Stuff pack are missing. Additional content from The Sims 4, such as the Throwback Fit Kit and Grunge Revival Kit, is included, enhancing the experience for fans of the franchise.

The Sims series debuted in 2000, quickly becoming a hallmark of life simulation games. It allows players to create and manage virtual lives, create homes, and navigate social dynamics. Over the years, the franchise has expanded significantly, leading to multiple sequels and expansion packs, with The Sims 4 currently being the latest entry. The re-release of the original titles caters to both nostalgic players and newcomers eager to experience where it all began.

It’s cool to see EA and Maxis celebrating The Sims’ legacy with these re-releases, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag when some iconic content like the IKEA Home Stuff pack is missing. That said, adding Sims 4 extras is a smart way to bridge the gap between old-school nostalgia and modern updates.

It's awesome to see EA and Maxis bringing back the classics for The Sims' 25th anniversary, though it’s a bummer some fan-favorite packs like the IKEA Home Stuff didn’t make the cut. Still, throwing in some Sims 4 goodies is a nice touch to keep things fresh for the OGs diving back in.
