Eric Barone, creator of popular game Stardew Valley, expressed interest in creating a movie based on the game if renowned studios such as Studio Ghibli or David Lynch were involved. In an interview with IGN, Barone voiced his dedication to maintaining the Stardew Valley brand, and his hesitance to hand over the intellectual property without personal involvement. He highlighted the project's numerous opportunities but cautioned against the risks associated with character voicing and independent motion.

Barone indicated that if Studio Ghibli or David Lynch were to approach him with a project proposal, he would agree to move forward with the movie. Amidst a growing popularity of movies based on video games, such as Uncharted, Gran Turismo, and Super Mario, Stardew Valley seems a prime candidate for cinematic adaptation.

In other Stardew Valley news, the Festival of Seasons concert, celebrating the game's music, is set to tour globally in 2024. Additionally, Barone's new game, Haunted Chocolatier, is currently under development with no specified release date.
