GTA Series Insider Blog Removed After Rockstar Intervention
Insights into the development process of iconic Grand Theft Auto titles and other Rockstar Games projects were brief, after a former Rockstar Games technical director was contacted by the studio for revealing too much. Obbe Vermeij, who previously worked at Rockstar North, had launched a blog to share behind-the-scenes details about the creation of several Grand Theft Auto games and shelved projects, including the never officially cancelled game, Agent, and a zombie survival game set in Scotland.
However, Vermeij decided to take down his blog posts when informed by Rockstar North that his content was unsettling for certain members of their team, suggesting it undermined the "Rockstar mystique." While not forced by Rockstar to halt the blog, the feedback from ex-colleagues was enough to persuade Vermeij to cease the retrospective revelations. He expressed his wish for Rockstar to one day share their own stories about the famous trilogy's development. This move again highlights Rockstar's secretive culture and general AAA industry transparency issues ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6's anticipated reveal.
Fans eagerly await more news as Rockstar Games approaches its 25th anniversary and teased the debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, expected in early December. With Rockstar's high-profile past titles, like Red Dead Redemption 2, having had their development conditions brought to light, many are looking forward to seeing how Rockstar has evolved and what they will share about their upcoming games.
