Florida Joker's final warning to GTA 6 devs

Dec 29, 2023 10:00 AM

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is expected to arrive in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, stirring excitement among fans of the long-awaited title. Lawrence 'Florida Joker' Sullivan has issued a final warning to Rockstar Games, the developers of GTA 6, via a video claiming the game features a character that resembles him. Sullivan went viral in 2017 due to his mugshot that bore a resemblance to the Joker. It appears that a character in the newly released GTA 6 trailer, which mocks events from Florida, looks similar to Sullivan, and he has expressed that this representation is based on him.

Sullivan requests Rockstar Games to pay him compensation, initially having asked for one to two million dollars and is now demanding five million. Failing to receive a response by his birthday, January 11th, Sullivan plans to take legal action. His claims focus on intellectual property rights, though it's unclear how the legalities might unfold given the conjectural inspiration for the in-game character. In the meantime, Roger Clark, who voiced Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, has advised Sullivan to leverage his sudden fame for profit rather than attempting to sue.

When is GTA 6 coming out, and for which platforms?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release in 2025 and will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Grand Theft Auto is a series of action-adventure games created by David Jones and Mike Dailly. Later titles were developed under the stewardship of brothers Dan and Sam Houser, Leslie Benzies, and Aaron Garbut. The series, published by Rockstar Games, is set in fictional locales modelled on real cities, as players complete missions with set objectives to progress through the story. Known for its open world design, it permits a freedom to explore the landscape and has stirred controversies on various subjects along the way, due to its adult nature and themes.

Looks like Rockstar might be riding that fine line between satire and alleged representation again with their new GTA 6 character—gotta love how art imitates life, or is it the other way around Meanwhile, Sullivan's trying to cash in on his likeness claim, but in the world of gaming fame, might be he's better off taking a leaf out of Roger Clark's book and embracing his viral persona rather than locking horns with legal eagles.

Looks like GTA 6's hype train is picking up passengers with every controversy, and Sullivan's claim is today's ticket. It's a wild, only-in-GTA scenario when life imitates art imitating life, and Rockstar's knack for cultural pastiche might've just snagged them an unexpected cameo claim—let's see if this one respawns in court or fades out with the next news cycle.

Rockstar's about to catch more heat than a wanted level in Vice City if this Florida Joker situation escalates; might just become as legendary as their in-game heists. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just counting the days until 2025, when we can finally cruise the streets of GTA 6 on our next-gen consoles. 🎮🔥

Rockstar's got quite the mix on their hands with GTA 6, huh Between the hype train charging towards a 2025 release and the Florida Joker's brazen cash-in claim, it's like life's imitating art imitating life—classic Grand Theft Auto style.
