Ubisoft is facing a new challenge with a significant gameplay leak of their upcoming game, Star Wars Outlaws. Over 13 minutes of footage showcasing the start of Massive Entertainment's adventure was uploaded to YouTube before a copyright claim by Ubisoft took it down. Despite this, the internet retains the gameplay footage, which contains heavy spoilers about protagonist Kay Vess's journey. Additional footage has appeared on social media, featuring Kay playing Sabacc and engaging in space combat.

The leak is a setback for Ubisoft, which had carefully managed the release of Star Wars Outlaws gameplay since its reveal at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. The leaked footage details Kay recovering from a crash, battling bandits, and seeking work from a crime boss in a Stormtrooper-filled town. Further information from Massive reveals that three of the game’s five planets can be traversed in four to five minutes by speeder. The planets include Tatooine, a Toshara moon, Akiva, Kijimi, and Cantonica. Star Wars Outlaws is set between Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back and Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi, starring Kay, her droid ND-5, and her companion Nix. The game will be released on August 27, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with various editions available for pre-order.
