First Look at Insane Mortal Kombat 1 Animalities

Jul 26, 2024 9:58 PM

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to bring back the classic "animalities" fatality variant, revealing this feature at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 after a 29-year hiatus. Originally introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, animalities allow characters to transform into various animals to finish off their opponents in graphic style. Detailed teaser footage displayed transformations such as Rain becoming a pufferfish and other characters transforming into animals like hyenas, hippos, gorillas, t-rex skeletons, and wolves. This return is part of a broader content update that includes the "Khaos Reigns" DLC and Kombat Pack 2, featuring six new DLC characters: Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and T-1000. Additionally, players will receive a free MK 95 Scorpion skin based on the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.

What are animalities in Mortal Kombat 1?

Animalities in Mortal Kombat 1 are a type of fatality where a character transforms into an animal to execute their opponent in a visually distinct and brutal manner.

Mortal Kombat is a long-running and influential fighting game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. It is known for its intense combat mechanics and signature "Fatalities." The series began in 1992 and has since expanded into films, television shows, and comics, becoming a cornerstone of fighting game culture. The return of animalities in Mortal Kombat 1 demonstrates NetherRealm Studio's commitment to honoring its rich history while continuously innovating its gameplay and visuals.
