First look at College Football 25's new gameplay features revealed

May 31, 2024 3:00 PM

EA Sports has given fans a sneak peek into the gameplay of College Football 25, boasting new features such as Campus IQ, Wear & Tear, and a revamped passing and kicking system. Campus IQ includes three core components: All 22+, 134 Ways to Play, and Stories of Saturday, aiming to enhance team strategies and gameplay differentiation. The Wear & Tear system introduces a physics-based damage model that simulates player fatigue and injury over time. Abilities in the game are categorized by physical and mental attributes, with a four-tier system ranging from bronze to platinum. The deep dive also reveals adjustments to game mechanics like the Option game, Confidence and Composure for high-pressure scenarios, and a home-field advantage feature that reintroduces the Stadium Pulse Meter. College Football 25 is scheduled for release on July 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

What is the Wear & Tear system in College Football 25?

The Wear & Tear system is a physics-based damage model designed to simulate real-life player fatigue and injuries. It affects player performance based on the hits and physical strain they endure during games, with impacts such as reduced throw power and accuracy for frequently hit quarterbacks.

College Football 25 marks EA Sports' attempt to revive its storied college football franchise, which has been on hiatus since NCAA Football 14. The game aims to capture the essence of college football with its new gameplay mechanics, detailed player attributes, and situational features like weather conditions and high-pressure game scenarios. By incorporating advanced systems like Campus IQ and Wear & Tear, EA Sports tries to bring a deeper level of realism and immersion to the virtual gridiron.
