Final Fantasy 14 Halts Housing Demolition After Hurricane Helene

Oct 02, 2024 3:16 PM

Square Enix has announced a temporary halt to the auto-demolition of player housing in Final Fantasy XIV due to the impact of Hurricane Helene. This decision comes as a compassionate response to those affected by the hurricane, especially in the North American regions. The development team expressed their support for the community, stating that the suspension will apply to players in the Primal, Dynamis, Crystal, and Aether Data Centers as of October 2, 2024. Auto-demolition will resume once the situation stabilizes, and players can cancel the demolition by entering their properties.

nHow does housing demolition work in Final Fantasy XIV?

In Final Fantasy XIV, player housing is considered valuable real estate. If a player does not visit their house for 45 days, it will be subject to automatic demolition to allow other players the opportunity to acquire that land. This feature encourages active participation in the housing community, which is one of the game's most favored elements.

Final Fantasy XIV, launched in 2013, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that has gained a strong following for its engaging storylines and vibrant world. It has been consistently updated with expansions and patches, enhancing the gaming experience with new content, mechanics, and features. The game has become well-known for its unique housing system, where players can design and customize their own homes within the game's universe, fostering community and creativity among players.
