Final Fantasy 14 Debuts Viper Class and Crossovers with FF 11 and 16

Oct 21, 2023 9:47 PM

In recent announcements at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London, Square Enix unveiled several exciting updates for their hit game, Final Fantasy XIV. The upcoming expansion, Dawntrail, is going to introduce a new Viper job, a Final Fantasy XI crossover raid named Echoes of Vana’diel, and a Final Fantasy XVI crossover named “The Path Infernal.”

The new Viper class focuses on close-range combat and can wield either two one-handed weapons or combine the two into a single two-handed one, its role is to inflict substantial damage swiftly. The crossovers will allow players to explore the world of Vana’diel in Final Fantasy XI, and undertake quests in Final Fantasy XVI that will pit them against Ifrit and reward them with a Torgal mount. Protagonist Clive Rosfield will also join players in these quests.

Dawntrail, scheduled to launch in summer 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, is set to upgrade the game with multiple new jobs, new dungeons, new gear, a collaboration with Fall Guys, and a level cap increase from 90 to 100. Interestingly, Xbox players will be able to enjoy Final Fantasy XIV for the first time in nearly a decade as part of the expansion. More information about the expansion will be shared at the next Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo in January.
