The upcoming Elder Scrolls Online expansion, Gold Road, is set for release in June 2024. This much-anticipated update will mark the return of spell crafting via the Scribing system, a feature fans of the Elder Scrolls series have been eagerly awaiting. The Gold Road expansion will offer over 30 hours of new content to this already enormous RPG universe. Players will see this expansion come to PC and Mac on June 3, with console releases following on June 18.

Scribing will allow players to craft unique skills, known as Grimoires, that come with primary, secondary, and tertiary effects, potentially revolutionizing in-game builds and shaking up the combat system. With at least one Grimoire for each major Weapon and World skill line, long-neglected features like the Soul Magic line are getting new additions. Furthermore, Gold Road will enhance player character customization with 22 collectible styles for Grimoires.

Gold Road also introduces a brand-new zone set in the West Weald region of Cyrodiil, complete with the city of Skingrad, new quests, delves, a 12-player trial called Lucent Citadel, and an expansive new storyline. Players can involve themselves with the Recollection faction or follow the tale of the 18th Daedric Prince, Ithelia. Both Gold Road’s storyline and Necrom’s from 2023 are said to connect, providing a rich expansion to Elder Scrolls lore.

As the Elder Scrolls Online approaches its 10th anniversary, this expansion could serve as a pivotal update before The Elder Scrolls 6 hits the market. ESO: Gold Road is currently being developed for PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation, and it promises to bring both old and new fans an enhanced and intuitive magic system along with a fresh and engaging game world to explore.
