Epic Teases Fortnite Season Built on UEFN for 2025

Mar 20, 2024 5:45 PM

Epic Games has announced significant updates for Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) during the State of Unreal 2024 presentation. By the end of 2025, Epic will launch a Fortnite season entirely developed using UEFN, marking a major milestone for the free-to-play Battle Royale game. The UEFN updates, set to be released throughout the year, include new creator tools such as the highly anticipated first-person camera settings. Creators will also receive improvements like enhanced creator pages with social media linking capabilities, and the ability to manipulate static objects within the game for more interactive and customized gameplay experiences.

UEFN's introduction brought many features of Unreal Engine 5 into Fortnite, giving PC users the ability to create unique content within the game's framework. Aside from UEFN, Fortnite has also experienced other major updates like transitioning to Unreal Engine 5, integrating Nvidia DLSS 3 support, and launching in-game spinoff titles like Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival, the latter soon to support various music game controllers.

What new features can we expect in the Unreal Editor for Fortnite?

Epic Games is introducing first-person camera settings, updates to creator pages with options to follow creators and link to social media, and enhanced in-game physics that allow for manipulation of static objects in Fortnite through UEFN.

Fortnite's success stems from its continuous evolution and adaptation, integrating the latest gaming technology and offering a platform for creativity. With its transition to Unreal Engine 5, Fortnite not only improved its graphics but also expanded the game's possibilities for user-created content. This approach has kept the community engaged and active, contributing to the enduring popularity of this Battle Royale title since its release by Epic Games in 2017. As it moves towards a season fully developed in UEFN, Fortnite is set to offer even more tools and capabilities to its players, maintaining its position as a leading and innovative game within the industry.
