Jun 25, 2025 9:47 PM

Dying Light is entering its tenth anniversary with exciting news for fans. A free update named Dying Light: Retouched will release on June 26, enhancing the original game’s audio and visuals. Techland revealed the update features improvements like higher texture resolution, better lighting, and new physics-based rendering, ensuring a more immersive experience. Noteworthy changes include 8K Ultra shadow quality and remastered soundtrack elements, but the update won't come to the Nintendo Switch. Instead, Techland is focusing on its upcoming expansion titled Dying Light: The Beast, set to release in August. Players can anticipate a richer gaming experience across multiple platforms, although enhancements will differ by system.

What enhancements can players expect in Dying Light: Retouched?

Players can expect significant visual upgrades such as increased texture quality, improved lighting, and new physics-based rendering, alongside audio enhancements including remastered soundtrack elements and improved combat sound effects.

Dying Light originally released in 2015 and quickly became a popular title for its unique blend of parkour mechanics and survival horror. The game's open-world environment, combined with its day-night cycle, added layers of strategy in zombie combat and exploration. As the franchise celebrates a decade, fans are eager for new content and experiences in both the classic and upcoming titles.

Nice to see Techland giving Dying Light some love after all these years—those lighting upgrades should make those nighttime chases even more intense. Shame about the Switch, but at least the Beast expansion is right around the corner to keep the hype going (Keeps it light and appreciative while nodding to the future content, avoiding rehashing the specifics of the upgrades.)

Wow, a free visual and audio glow-up for Dying Light’s 10th anniversary Techland really knows how to treat their fans right—though Switch players might feel a little left out. Can’t wait to see how those 8K shadows make nighttime parkour even more terrifying (Keeps it fresh by focusing on the fan appreciation angle and the Switch exclusion, while still sounding excited about the upgrades.)
