Delta emulator adds iPadOS support, ditches BIOS files

Jul 11, 2024 6:17 PM

Delta, the popular Nintendo emulator app for Apple devices, has rolled out its significant 1.6 update, adding native iPadOS support alongside various quality-of-life improvements. Emulated GameBoy, NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, and Nintendo DS games can now be played on full screen using iPads. The update also introduces new controller skins, support for multiple windows in Stage Manager and Split View, and better performance for DS emulation. Additionally, the BIOS file requirement for DS games has been removed, making it easier for users. The update also includes a new app icon following a legal dispute with Adobe.

nHow can I update Delta to version 1.6 if I'm not in the EU? n

Currently, only EU users can download Delta's 1.6 update via AltStore PAL. If you're outside the EU, you will need to wait until Apple approves the update for your region.

Delta's update is a significant advancement for retro gaming enthusiasts who use Apple devices. Originally released in April, Delta quickly became a favored emulator app due to Apple's relaxed policies on emulators in the App Store. Its popularity persists, currently ranking #35 among the top 100 free apps in the Entertainment category.
