After a considerable wait, the major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, dubbed "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty," is finally slated for release this week. This marks the first and final expansion for the game, introducing a new storyline in a new district named Dogtown.

The DLC is slated for release on 26th September and will only be available for players who own the complete version of Cyberpunk 2077. It's important to note that the downloadable content will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, not on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The DLC will be available for download starting at midnight on consoles and at 01:00 on PC.

Returning to the game is Keanu Reeves, reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand, and joining him is Idris Elba, who portrays FIA agent Solomon Reed in the stand-alone story of Phantom Liberty. As for the plot, players take on an undercover government agent role, with espionage missions at the heart of it all.

Under the Phantom Liberty expansion, there are three routes to enter the new Dogtown district:

  1. Making a new save game (note that you can only start the DLC after completing Act 1);
  2. Continuing with your current character by loading an old save game, after which you will receive a call from a character who offers you the chance to start the side mission leading to the new district;
  3. Directly diving into Phantom Liberty from the game menu, bypassing Act 1 if you wish to create a new character but don't fancy replaying the whole first act.

The Phantom Liberty release also enables players to unlock a brand new ending for the original base game, given that certain decisions are made during the new Dogtown adventure.
