Call of Duty Warzone Splits From Annual Games for a Big Revamp

Activision is set to make significant changes to the Call of Duty experience by decoupling Warzone from the annual releases of the franchise. This overhaul aims to streamline how players access and download content across both PC and consoles. The main highlight is allowing players to download only the games they intend to play, reducing overall file sizes. Enhancements to the launcher will introduce On-Demand High Quality Streaming options, optimizing performance based on internet bandwidth. This transition begins with the Season 5 Reloaded update on August 21, leading to the launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024. As part of the update, players will receive bonuses like battle pass tier skips and double XP tokens during the season.

The major changes include separating Warzone from yearly premium titles, allowing players to download only specific game files. The user interface will be revamped, making it easier to navigate between different titles, while the On-Demand High Quality Streaming feature will be enhanced.
