Avowed reveals third-person mode and new abilities in 30-min dive

Jun 10, 2024 6:59 PM

Obsidian Entertainment has unveiled a 30-minute deep dive into its upcoming fantasy action RPG, Avowed. The presentation, from Xbox itself, offers a look at the gameplay, showcasing both first and third-person perspectives. Game Director Carrie Patel discussed numerous aspects, including the magical tools available, colorful NPCs like Yatzli and Kai, and the environmental changes from day to night. Avowed offers a broad selection of skills, allowing players to approach encounters with either combat or stealth. A crucial element is the "shout radius" of enemies, influencing how stealth tactics play out. The game will release before the end of 2024 on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

What new features are included in Avowed?

Avowed includes the ability to switch between first and third-person gameplay, a wide selection of skills, day-night environmental changes, and NPC interactions that react to the player's actions and godlike status. Players can opt for combat or stealth approaches, with abilities like Shadowing Beyond, which turns the player invisible.

Avowed is set in the world of Eora, the same universe as Obsidian's renowned Pillars of Eternity series. This continuity promises rich lore and intricate world-building, giving fans of the studio's previous works much to look forward to in this new, immersive RPG experience.
