Assassin's Creed Red Teased in Ubisoft Forward

May 08, 2024 9:10 AM

Ubisoft is once again poised to expand its legendary franchise with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Red, slated for a possible late 2024 launch. Set in feudal Japan, the game is expected to feature immersive open-world gameplay and introduce players to protagonists Samurai Yasuke and Ninja Naoe. Preceded by a potential early-look trailer and release timeframe announcement, fans might get to see in-game content as early as June during the Ubisoft Forward event at the Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, according to Insider Gaming. Assassin’s Creed Red, which is still considered a working title, may undergo a name change prior to its release. With the launch, Ubisoft aims to also introduce Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a hub for live-service offerings and continuous content beyond main titles in the series. The showcase event for Assassin’s Creed Red is scheduled for June 10th, and it’s likely we might see the first official images and gameplay videos soon after.

What new features can we expect in Assassin's Creed Red?

Although specific details are few, Assassin’s Creed Red is expected to feature a detailed open world set in feudal Japan, multiple protagonists, and an emphasis on a storyline intertwining the paths of a samurai and a ninja. Additionally, the Assassin’s Creed Infinity hub will be introduced to provide ongoing live-service content and experiences.

Assassin's Creed Red will be the latest installment in the long-running Assassin's Creed series started by Ubisoft in 2007. The games are known for their historical settings, intertwined with a fictional conflict between Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and Templars, who desire peace through control. This edition is set to transport players to feudal Japan, a setting long requested by fans, and likely to involve new characters and narratives that continue the series' tradition of connecting historical fiction with action-packed gameplay.
