However, a new expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved named Ark: Lost Colony has been announced, which aims to connect the ongoing series storyline to Ark 2. This expansion will revolve around characters from the animated series, including one played by Michelle Yeoh, and will provide a narrative link between previous expansions and the upcoming Ark 2. Set to release in June for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S at a price of $30, fans are left wondering when Ark 2 will actually launch after multiple delays. Despite speculation about its cancellation, the new expansion indicates that development continues.
When will Ark 2 be released? As of now, there is no confirmed release date for Ark 2. The game was initially expected to launch in 2023, then pushed to late 2024, but further updates remain unclear, leading to ongoing speculation about its future.
Ark 2, developed by Studio Wildcard, is the sequel to the popular survival game Ark: Survival Evolved, which features dinosaur taming and survival mechanics in an open-world environment. The original game became a massive hit since its early access release in 2015, leading to an animated series and increased attention on the franchise as they prepare for the next installment.

It’s great to see Studio Wildcard keeping the Ark universe alive with Lost Colony, especially with such a star-studded cast, but the endless delays for Ark 2 are starting to feel like we’re stuck in a survival loop ourselves. At this point, I’m half-expecting the dinosaurs to evolve into sentient beings before we get our hands on the sequel.

It's cool to see Ark: Lost Colony bridging the gap between the original game and Ark 2, especially with Michelle Yeoh's involvement—feels like they're building a proper cinematic universe. Still, the constant delays for Ark 2 are giving me soon™ vibes, and I’m starting to wonder if we’ll be taming dinosaurs on Mars before it finally drops.
