Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine soccer star, has announced an upcoming animated series named "Messi and the Giants." Geared towards children, the show is based on Messi's life, portraying a 12-year-old Messi navigating his way through a video game world in an effort to return home. The first sneak peek of the show was released on Messi's Instagram account, promptly garnering over 4.5 million likes.
The series is an initiative by Sony Pictures Television - Kids. The company's representative, Joe D’Ambrosia, spoke about the project, emphasizing how football, like storytelling, can inspire and bring people together. The key principles underlying the series include sportsmanship, perseverance, resilience, teamwork, and self-belief.
"Messi and the Giants" will be available in English, Spanish, and other languages. Also in the works is an Apple TV+ documentary titled "Messi Meets America," chronicling Messi's move to the U.S.
Messi has been making waves in the American Major League Soccer (MLS) since his transfer to Inter Miami, with an impressive record of 11 goals in 12 matches. However, he is currently out due to an injury.
