Jul 26, 2024 8:53 PM

Adult Swim has unveiled a sneak peek of "Lazarus," a new anime by Shinichirō Watanabe, the creator of Cowboy Bebop, in collaboration with Mappa, the studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen. Premiering in 2025, the series focuses on protagonist Axel Gilberto, showcasing high-octane action scenes involving parkour and evading authorities. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick films, "Lazarus" centers around a futuristic world in 2052 where a Nobel Prize-winning drug has dangerous, life-threatening side effects. With a special task force called Lazarus on the case, the series promises to blend elaborate storytelling with dynamic animation.

When will Lazarus be released on Adult Swim?

"Lazarus" is slated to premiere on Adult Swim in 2025.

"Lazarus" stands out not only because of its pedigree but also due to its unique story set in a dystopian future. The show will feature a soundtrack by renowned jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington and DJs Floating Points and Bonobo, further enriching its immersive experience. Given Watanabe's history with critically acclaimed series like "Cowboy Bebop" and the high standard of animation from Mappa, "Lazarus" is shaping up to be a must-watch for anime fans.
