Activision Develops Custom COD Downloads to Combat Massive Files

Aug 15, 2024 5:00 PM

Activision is implementing significant changes to its Call of Duty download options ahead of the highly anticipated release of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024. The new updates will allow players to install specific components of the game separately, addressing the growing concerns around colossal file sizes that have often exceeded 100GB. This update comes in response to a community outcry regarding the perceived massive storage requirements, although it was clarified that the rumored 300GB was an exaggeration. Activision is committed to a new streamlined interface, providing greater control over downloads, and reducing the footprint of existing files on consoles. Starting August 21, updates will begin rolling out, with incremental improvements targeting September and October, directly impacting Black Ops 6’s launch.

How will the new download options for Call of Duty affect gameplay?

The new download options will enhance gameplay by allowing players to download only the necessary components of the game, thereby saving storage space and reducing download times. This approach will enable players to enjoy the game more efficiently without cluttering their console’s hard drive with unnecessary files.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to be the next installment in the popular Call of Duty franchise, which has seen considerable success due to its engaging multiplayer modes, including Zombies and Warzone. The franchise has evolved significantly over recent years, making the game's heavy file sizes a pressing issue for many gamers. With the upcoming game, players can also look forward to early access trials, further building excitement for its release.

This change should not only streamline our gameplay experience but also keep our consoles a bit less cluttered, making it easier to dive into the action when Black Ops 6 drops
