In the world of gaming, Activision Blizzard made headlines again, but this time it's not good news. A bunch of the Hearthstone team just lost their jobs. This all happened super suddenly, and the company says these "organizational changes" are the reason behind it. Many of the ex-staff who got the boot had been with the company for a long, long time — one of them for nearly 20 years. Ouch!

All this started coming out on LinkedIn. Some of the Hearthstone team had posted about unexpectedly leaving the company. That includes Hunter C, a software engineer, and Joe Belousek, a senior producer.

Activision Blizzard finally talked about what happened after Kotaku's Ethan Gach asked for some answers. The company said they changed some things around in the Hearthstone team and that's why some jobs got axed. They did say a big thank you to those who lost their jobs, which is something, I guess. Word on the street is that about 10 folks were affected.

LinkedIn gave up some more details about everything. One of the employees who was let go, Hunter C, mentioned "I'm not the only one getting hit" when he got well wishes from his buddies in the industry. Even though Hearthstone was doing good and even dropped a new Twist game mode just this month, everyone was expecting something like this.

This isn't the first time people have lost their jobs at the company. A few months ago, they let go many of their esports peeps. Plus, just two weeks ago, the director of quality assurance got the sack.

This all seems to be happening while Microsoft is prepping to buy Activision Blizzard for a whopping $68.7 billion! That's a crazy amount of money. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority just gave the green light for the deal to go through as long as streaming rights for Activision Blizzard games go to Ubisoft. Ubisoft's big boss, Yves Guillemot, thought this was good news just last month.
