Activision Blizzard, a leading video gaming company, has announced plans to bring its games to the Xbox Game Pass in 2024. This news was shared in a statement, where the company addressed ongoing queries about their upcoming and recently released games' availability on the Game Pass.
Notable games such as Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo 4 will not be released on Game Pass this year but are expected to be made available following the completion of the prospective Microsoft takeover.
In another major move, Microsoft signaled its intent to acquire Activision Blizzard for about $68.7 billion. This acquisition would include renowned franchises like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Additionally, it would incorporate King, a developer known for popular mobile games like Candy Crush.
The takeover announcement triggered a global review by regulatory watchdogs, with most regions, including the European Union, approving the acquisition. Despite facing some opposition from the American Federal Trade Commission and British Competition and Market Authority, Microsoft emerged victorious in court, further solidifying the takeover process.
To address regulatory concerns, Microsoft has offered game publisher, Ubisoft, the rights to release Activision Blizzard games on cloud services.
The British watchdog now has until October 18 to deliver their final verdict, though recent rumors suggest that a definitive decision may come sooner.
