Just days before the launch of the much-anticipated beta version, footage of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 gameplay has unexpectedly surfaced online. Activision, the creators behind the game, are scrambling to remove these unauthorised clips; however, fans have been quick to circulate them on social media and various online forums, creating a challenging situation for the company.

A Twitter account @uwuleaker99, which appeared unexpectedly, posted multiple leaked gameplay videos which were promptly taken down by Activision. Despite these efforts, a whopping one million views were recorded on the tweet before its removal.

A YouTube channel, oG JIMMY, managed to post multiple videos revealing the gameplay action on multiplayer maps that will feature in the beta version. Notably, one of the videos shared a glimpse of the much-loved Rust map from Modern Warfare 3, complete with a game-ending nuke (dubbed Mass Guided Bombs here), giving fans a sneak peek over a month before the official release.

Activision is keen to reign in these leaks, especially ahead of its COD Next event, which commences today at 9am Pacific / 12noon Eastern / 5pm UK time. The event is set to feature the latest revelations about Modern Warfare 3 and upcoming elements for the game's battle royale zone, Warzone.

On a side note, the DMZ mode from last year's Modern Warfare 2 will not be shown in this showcase.

Looking forward, the global release times for the Modern Warfare 3 beta have been made available, with its official launch scheduled for this weekend. This news comes amidst many developments in the gaming world, well covered by IGN's UK News Editor, Wesley Yin-Poole.
