May 31, 2024 6:04 PM

Warner Bros. Television is working on a series adaptation of Zack Snyder's action epic "300," focusing on a prequel to the 2006 film. Though still in early development and details kept under wraps, sources reveal Snyder is in talks to direct and produce. Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller are also in discussions to join Zack Snyder's Stone Quarry banner as executive producers. The original producers, Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann, are in talks to join the prequel. No writer or platform has been decided yet. The original "300" tells the story of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans fighting the Persian army, based on Frank Miller's graphic novel. A sequel, "300: Rise of an Empire," was released in 2014. Snyder recently retrieved the rights to his unmade sequel script, "Blood and Ashes," but its relation to this new series remains unclear.

Will the new "300" series feature characters from the original film?n

Details about the new "300" series are still under wraps, including specific characters. It's intended as a prequel, so it may introduce new characters while referencing familiar ones.

The original "300" film, directed by Zack Snyder, became famous for its unique visual style, intense battle scenes, and slow-motion shots. It was based on Frank Miller's graphic novel and starred Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham, and Michael Fassbender. The film was both a critical and commercial success, influencing the style of many action movies that followed.
