Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 gets a third year of live support

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has attracted a huge audience and is now officially receiving a third year of live support. The announcement comes from publisher Focus Entertainment, which highlighted the game’s success after a significant jump in player numbers since its 2024 launch.

Huge success

The third-person action game has already drawn more than 12 million players, and the recent updates have been especially well received by the community. Focus Entertainment confirmed that the positive feedback is motivating the team to keep expanding content into a third year.

Tim Willits, development chief at developer Saber Interactive, said that Space Marine 2 has changed everything for the studio. Since launch, sales have continued to rise steadily, underlining the game’s lasting popularity.

Growing accessibility

The addition of Space Marine 2 to subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass has further increased the player base. This has led to the announcement that new content is on the way, with some of it originally planned for year two but now being moved into year three.

Year two roadmap and future updates

The year two roadmap points to interesting new content on the horizon, including a Salamanders Champion Pack 2 and a Wargear overhaul. This will allow players to use class-specific Wargear on other classes, such as capes and iron halos.

Patch 13, due at the end of June, will include Ultragrind Ordeals, among other additions. These are designed to unlock new items and will be challenging, with requirements such as completing operations a significant number of times or killing enemies with a single headshot on Absolute difficulty.

Gameplay improvements

One of the most anticipated quality-of-life additions is Perks Loadouts, which will let players save up to three different perk loadouts. This should make selection easier and reduce the need for complex menu navigation.

In addition, the Battle Barge is getting a Practice Arena, available only in solo mode. This gives players the chance to test their weapons against enemies of their choice on any difficulty level, with a display showing total damage and a damage counter.
