The dark fantasy vampire role-playing game The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves, has set its official release date for September 3, 2026. This marks the launch of a new RPG saga set in 14th-century Europe, following the adventures of Coen, a half-human, half-vampire.

Gameplay and story

The gameplay in The Blood of Dawnwalker features an open world where players can make use of different abilities depending on the time of day. During the day, Coen can use human powers, while at night he gains vampire abilities such as teleportation and wall-running. This plays a crucial role in a story that unfolds over 30 days, with the need to act quickly to save Coen’s family from evil before time runs out.

The game also includes romantic storylines, although they are secondary to the main mission of saving Coen’s family. The developers have said that adding romance gives Coen’s character development an extra layer, but the time pressure means it will not always be at the forefront.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being positioned as the first step in a new RPG saga, and the developers have also revealed plans to create a second IP. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, founder of Rebel Wolves, said he is thinking big about the studio’s future and the possibility of developing a variety of games, including sequels and new IPs.

During development, the studio used a number of advanced technologies to improve the game experience. While generative AI was used early on to test dialogue, there are no AI-generated assets in the final version of the game. According to the studio, everything was done by hand by the team.
