Valve has recently launched its new Steam Controller, a device that promises major improvements over its predecessor. Shipping details

On May 6, 2026, Valve began shipping the first Steam Controller orders. According to multiple social media reports, the first wave of orders was successfully sent to buyers in at least 22 of the 32 countries where the controller is available. Those countries include the United States, Germany, Spain, and Poland.

In the days following launch, customers in 21 other countries reported their orders moving through various shipping statuses. Some orders had even already received tracking numbers, meaning they’re on the way to customers. Valve has said the first wave of shipments is expected to arrive between May 7 and May 11, 2026, depending on the region.

Consumer experience and availability

Consumer feedback on the Steam Controller at launch has been mixed. Many early users are positive about the new features and improved ergonomics. That said, there have also been concerns about restrictions Valve imposed, such as a two-controller limit per customer. The measure was intended to discourage scalpers, but some users report seeing the controllers already being resold at inflated prices.

Stock sold through faster than Valve expected, and the company has confirmed it is working to replenish supplies. Customers are being advised not to buy from resellers, in order to support demand for fairly priced units.
