Petition urges Sony to approve development of Destiny 3

An online petition calling on Sony to greenlight development of Destiny 3 has now gathered more than 120,000 signatures. Despite the growing support, the chances of the game actually being made still appear slim. Developer Bungie recently announced that the final update for Destiny 2 will arrive in June, bringing an end to the Destiny era that began in 2014.

Harley Casto, the creator of the petition, says there is strong demand among players for new adventures, fresh storylines, and innovative gameplay features. In his appeal for Sony to see that there is interest in Destiny 3, Casto argues that a new entry in the franchise could inspire a new generation of gamers.

Even so, it remains unclear whether Destiny 3 will ever enter development. According to reports, Bungie is facing "significant" layoffs and is not currently working on a new entry in the franchise. The high cost of AAA game development is a major factor in that decision. Marathon’s budget, for example, was estimated at more than $250 million.
