Gameplay reveal
On May 26, 2026, the first gameplay for Metal Gear Solid 4 was shown during a YouTube livestream. The event was hosted by Japanese writer Mafia Kajita and voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, who played through Act 1 of the game. The stream gave fans an extensive look at roughly an hour of the revamped title, showcasing details like smoother visuals and flashy gameplay.
Changes and preserved content
One of the most notable changes in the remaster is the removal of the original "piss filter" aesthetic, with colors and details now rendered more faithfully. In addition, gameplay has been updated to support smoother frame rates up to 60 FPS, whereas the original release was capped at 30 FPS.
Despite the updates, the remaster keeps some of the classic in-jokes and branding, including the iconic "No place for Hideo" gag, which appears in one of the cutscenes. The reference to Hideo Kojima’s blog has been removed, possibly because the page no longer exists.
