• The set is an 18+ display model with 1,849 pieces and a suggested retail price of $169.99.
• The design is based on the well-known Joker cover from Detective Comics #880.

What happened

LEGO has announced a new Batman wave with three sets for January 2027. The standout release is 67012 DC Batman The Joker Wall Art, a brick-built wall model clearly aimed at display and collectors. The set is part of a broader Batman lineup that also adds two vehicles to the range for the same release window.

According to the product information, the Joker set includes 1,849 pieces and carries a suggested retail price of $169.99. LEGO is positioning the model as an 18+ set, targeting adult Batman and DC Comics fans. In the product details, the set is explicitly presented as a display model rather than a playset, which fits the wall-art concept of the design.

The set is based on the Joker cover from Detective Comics #880, with artwork by Mark "Jock" Simpson. Alongside this wall art, LEGO also revealed 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck for $59.99 and 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile for $29.99. That means the new Batman wave consists of one large collector model and two lower-priced vehicle sets, each with its own price and piece-count tier.

The three Batman sets are scheduled for the January 2027 product wave. The source cites a release on January 1, 2027 in North America, Europe and other markets, though exact availability may vary by region. Piece counts were also given for the two vehicle sets: 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck has 672 pieces, while 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile has 317 pieces.

Background

Detective Comics #880 is the visual basis for the new LEGO set 67012. The source references the cover artwork by Mark "Jock" Simpson and places the story in the period when Dick Grayson was Batman instead of Bruce Wayne. That ties the set to a specific DC Comics era rather than a generic Joker depiction.

The source also says Detective Comics #880 would be from 2011, but that detail should be verified. The connection to the cover and the names involved are explicitly mentioned in the product information that has now been shared. For reporting purposes, it is safest to describe the set as a LEGO interpretation of the famous Joker cover without going further into the publication history until that is confirmed.

The new Batman wave also includes two vehicles that serve different price points. 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck, at $59.99 and 672 pieces, is clearly larger than 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile, which arrives for $29.99 and 317 pieces. Together, the three sets show that LEGO is releasing both a premium display model and two more compact vehicle sets within the same Batman theme in January 2027.

The product information also notes that the Joker set is intended as an 18+ model, which is important for its positioning within the LEGO lineup. Combined with the wall-art format and the reference to a specific comic cover, that points to a collector-focused release rather than a standard retail set. The source does not mention any additional technical details about the build method or hanging system, so those remain unspecified for now.
