God of War Laufey: Serpent Bow revealed, pre-orders on 29 September 2026

What happened
Sony and Santa Monica Studio have shared new information about God of War Laufey, including a new weapon called the Serpent Bow. According to the reveal, it is an enchanted ranged weapon with two firing modes: Precision mode and Hip-Fire mode.
In Precision mode, players can fully aim the bow, increase draw distance, and fire up to five arrows at once. The description also mentions body-part-specific effects, such as limiting movement when a leg is hit and disrupting attacks when an arm holding a weapon is struck.
Hip-Fire mode is described in the shared gameplay as being designed for longer combo strings. In that stance, the Serpent Bow appears to stagger and knock enemies back, setting them up for follow-up melee attacks. A social post from Genki_JPN on 28 September 2026 also referenced new combat gameplay, but did not add any further confirmed details about the story or mechanics.
Beyond the gameplay reveal, Sony has also announced the pre-order information and editions. Pre-orders go live on 29 September 2026 at 10:00 local time, while the game is scheduled to launch on 16 February 2027.

Background
The official pre-order bonuses include the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves appearance, and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, an in-game resource pack, a digital mini art book, and the official digital soundtrack.
GameSpot reports that the Deluxe Edition is digital-only. At the same time, it remains unclear exactly what is included in the resource pack, and whether the Serpent Bow mechanics and bonus content will remain unchanged until release.
A separate screenshot featuring Kratos has led to story speculation, as the image appears to point to a setting resembling Ancient Greece. That does not yet confirm whether this is the living Kratos from the 2018 and Ragnarok era, or another version of the character.
