Fourth Wing series casts Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya as Violet and Xaden
Deadline reported on October 15, 2026 that Prime Video has cast Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya as Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson in Fourth Wing.
The available information comes from a Deadline casting report that was picked up by IGN. The material provided does not include an official confirmation from Prime Video itself.
The report matters because Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson are the two central characters in Fourth Wing. That makes this the most important casting update mentioned in the source material.
What happened
Deadline wrote on October 15, 2026 that Prime Video had found its lead cast for the Fourth Wing adaptation. According to the report, Esther McGregor has been cast as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya as Xaden Riorson.
The report was later referenced by IGN as a casting update for the Prime Video series. In the text provided, the casting is attributed to sources close to the production rather than an official statement from Prime Video. The source note in the supplied evidence explicitly says the information came from “sources close to production.”
The Deadline post included in the source material says Prime Video has found its leading stars for Fourth Wing. It also states that Esther McGregor will play Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya will portray Xaden Riorson. That makes the report specific enough to treat as a casting update, but not as an official streamer announcement.
Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson are the central characters in Fourth Wing, so this casting directly covers the series’ most important roles. No additional cast members, release date, or other production details are mentioned in the supplied material. There is also no production company, showrunner, or filming date included in the available information.
The supplied pieces also contain a small naming inconsistency in one summary, where Xaden is misspelled. However, the source report and Deadline’s post both use the spelling Xaden Riorson. Based on the provided information, that is the safest spelling to use.

Background
Fourth Wing is Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling novel and is being developed by Prime Video as a TV series. The reported casting focuses on Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson, the story’s two main characters. Because these are the lead roles, the report is a major update for the series’ development.
The source material explicitly names Rebecca Yarros as the author of the novel the series is based on. It also describes Fourth Wing as a bestselling novel, showing that the adaptation comes from a title with a large audience. The supplied source identifies Prime Video as the platform developing the series.
The provided information says the casting news came from Deadline and was then carried by IGN. That means the update has mainly surfaced through entertainment media at this stage. No additional source in the material provides a second independent confirmation from Prime Video itself.
Deadline’s post adds one more concrete detail: the casting is said to be based on information from sources close to the production. That helps explain why the report is framed as a casting report. At the same time, the distinction between a reported casting and an official announcement remains important, since the supplied material does not include a press release or social post from Prime Video.
The source information also does not include episode count, season structure, filming dates, or a release window. No other characters or supporting roles are mentioned either. As a result, the available update is limited to the two lead roles and the origin of the casting news.
