Disney licenses select Disney+ titles to Netflix starting October 4
According to a report, Disney is preparing a non-exclusive licensing deal with Netflix for select Disney+ content, including Percy Jackson and Ice Age.
- Percy Jackson and the Olympians seasons 1 and 2 are said to be set for October 4, while season 3 is due on Disney+ on November 20.
- Marvel and Star Wars titles would remain outside the deal and exclusive to Disney+.
What happened
According to IGN, citing Variety, Disney is working on a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Netflix for part of the Disney+ catalog. This would not be a full content transfer, but a selection of older titles and current TV series that would appear on Netflix.
One of the first titles in the reported rollout is Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Seasons 1 and 2 are said to be coming to Netflix on October 4, just before season 3 premieres on Disney+ on November 20. In the same first wave, all five Ice Age films from 20th Century Studios would also arrive on Netflix.
The later schedule reportedly extends into 2027. Will Trent seasons 1-4, Shifting Gears seasons 1-2, and Tracker seasons 1-3 would come to Netflix between November 2026 and February 2027. In 2027, Disney and Pixar films such as Soul, Elio, and Raya and the Last Dragon would follow, along with complete series including Felicity, This Is Us, Revenge, and Fresh Off the Boat.
Marvel and Star Wars would, according to the report, remain outside this licensing arrangement and stay exclusive to Disney+. Netflix reportedly now has more than 325 million subscribers worldwide, which explains the scale of a possible rollout, but the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
